I should be doing my taxes

Instead of doing a blog post, I should be doing my taxes...

Hubby's been after me to gather the tax papers and fix them for our tax guy...I will, the next day I have off. Problem is work has been crazy. Overtime, because of call outs and ...poof...my off day is gone. Planned once again to work on it tonight; however, you guessed it a call out, I had to work over and now my motivation is gone for today.

So, how many of you have good intentions about getting something done and put it off or avoid doing it just because...?

Procrastination sucks, it really does.

And I'll get around to doing my tax preparations, mainly because it Has to be done. Tomorrow, maybe!

What's the one thing you put off doing? Care to share it with our members? Let's see how much alike we all are. We're only human.

And, if you never procrastinate, tells us how you accomplish that. [I for one would really like to know.]  I'm sure that others would like to know your secret.

Spring is Just Around the Corner

It is almost time to get busy in the yard again. Mowing season will be here before we know it.

Hubby said he wants me to fix the area around the house again so that the amount of weed eating will be cut down.

Most of my friends know that I am a DIY, Honey-Do type of person. I've watched hundreds of hours of programming on tv and cable that are dedicated for do it yourself types of persons. One program that gets me thinking of the topic for this blog post was called "Curb Appeal."

You have to understand, I did this around the house, once before. Then hubby mowed with the grass clippings blowing Toward the house instead of Away from the house. Of course, the grass took root, more or less destroyed the barrier sheet, and I finally took it up everything after we started having to mow the area to keep the growth down.

Well, here goes nothing ....

1. Determine the area you want to landscape.
2. Make sure you create curves instead of corners.
3. For those curves, use a radius your riding lawnmower can cut easily.
4. Place down ground sheet over the desired area that will let water through it.
5. Ground staple ground sheet, small hammer works well.
6. Spread desired material over ground sheet, I used mostly straw. In some areas I used rocks.
7. Add decorative touches and seating if desired.

I added some statues, solar lighting, concrete seating. Last time the set up lasted 3 years. Let's see how long our new setup will last.

Doing this should give you more play time with loved ones since you won't be weed eating around your home.

What's your best tip for easy yard care. I'm sure that those reading would like fresh new ideas or some of the best tried & true ones that work!
